Pac-Man turns 30

Last week as a result of a 2-hour-insomnia-inspired of research, I came up with some information about Pac-Man as my tribute to the first true video game icon's 30's birthday. I'm hoping to talk more about this at the next A to Zed Podcast that I have the chance to co-host. I hope if anyone reads this, you'll enjoy the info:

With the 30th Anniversary of Pac-Man being last week, I looked around youtube and found some interesting videos:

And I knew Billy Mitchell (the “villain” from King of Kong) had the high score in the game, the perfect game of 3,333,360 (1999-07-03). But what I didn’t know is 5 others have duplicated that feat according to Twin Galaxies site http://www.twingalaxies.com/index.aspx?c=22&pi=2&gi=3229&vi=3365


To get the perfect score as part of this kill screen, you have to get to it without dying once, eat all of the dots plus the nine hidden dots, then die, and eat the nine hidden dots again that respawn, etc. until you run out of lives.

Not Pac-Man, but Billy related: Twin Galaxies posted the last 10 min of one of his Donkey Kong submissions where he gets to level 21 and a score of 1,050,200 in July 2007.

The video shows exactly what kind of a prick he is. He gets enough points on that level to beat Wiebe’s 1,049,100 from March 2007, then just throws the last man away to end the game. He still could have gone through the entire level 21 to get to kill screen (level 22) and get that many more points. If he had, then maybe Hank Chien wouldn’t have beat him in March 2010 (1,061,700) http://www.twingalaxies.com/index.aspx?c=22&pi=2&gi=3852&vi=22

Though, he is a prick, and shows it in this video too, this is just too awesome.
